UCC Tyndall Institute, Cork

The Tyndall Institute underwent refurbishment during 2006 - 2007. As part of this work 23m² of evacuated tube solar collectors were installed to help provide domestic hot water for the refurbished building. Installed by HA O'Neill mechanical contractors.

Westmeath Residence

45m² Kloben evacuated tube system combined with a 3,000 litre tank in tank cylinder contributes to the heating of 650m² of under floor heating, a 60m² swimming pool and domestic hot water.

Great Northern Hotel, Bundoran

75m² flat plate solar system commissioned in 2010. The solar system services the DHW requirement for the hotel and leisure centre and is connected directly into a pre-heat 2,000 litre single coil stainless steel calorifier. Old inefficient calorifiers removed and replaced with 2,000 litre single coil and 2,000 litre dual coil stainless steel calorifiers. Hotel trade peaks during summer period when efficient LPG system was used for DHW, but LPG is very expensive. Hence, a very good return on investment. UCC Science Building, Cork

33m² Kloben evacuated tube system for DHW. DHW is pre-heated before entering an 800 litre stainless steel calorifier heated by natural gas. Temperature of water is heated if necessary by gas to greater than 65°C to prevent risk of Legionella. Installed by Horgan Mechanical, Cork.

Newcastle Swimming Pool, Dublin

22m² Kloben evacuated tube system combined with a 1,500 litre tank in tank cylinder. The solar system is used to heat the swimming pool and DHW for the showers. A small area of under floor heating is also serviced by the solar system. System is backed up by oil boilers with the possibility to add a biomass boiler at a future date. The system was commissioned in December 2008. Installed by Mangrove Mechanical Services (Steven Hogan), Dublin.

Oakfield Nursing Home, Gorey

The solar system comprising of 33m² of Kloben evacuated tube connected to a 1,500 litre stainless steel single coil pre-heat cylinder was retrofitted into the existing DHW system served by 2 no. 800 litre calorifiers. The solar system is used to pre-heat the domestic hot water for bathing of the patients and the kitchen requirements. LPG was displaced. Installed by DKS mechanical contractors, Wexford.

Tullamore Leisure Centre

33m² evacuated tube system for DHW connected to a 1,400 litre single pre-heat stainless steel calorifier. Installed in 2008 by Midland Heating and Plumbing, Athboy, Co. Meath.

Kilmokea House, Duncannon, Co. Wexford

This period house is one of the "Hidden Ireland" estates. In 2010 three buildings on the estate were retrofitted with evacuated tube solar panels including the leisure centre. Total panel area is 32m². Installed by Joe Whelan Plumbing, Wexford.

Cope Foundation, Clonakilty, Co. Cork

10m² evacuated tube solar system installed for DHW and connected to an 800 litre stainless steel pre-heat cylinder. Installed by Jim Murray mechanical contractors, Cork.

Cope Foundation, Mayfield, Co. Cork.

Two buildings each with flat in-roof panels for DHW. Building 1 - 10m² Building 2 - 12m². Installed by Bernard Buckley mechanical contractors, Cork.

Medtronic, Galway

A Kloben evacuated tube system consisting of 45m² linked to a 3,000 litre tank in tank cylinder for heating and hot water. Installed by Tom Crinigan Heating and Plumbing, Longford for Energy 4U, Galway.

Glen Mill Golf Club

7.5m² evacuated tube system combined with 500 litre dual coil stainless steel calorifier supplying DHW for showers and taps. Installed by Eamonn Kehoe Plumbing, Baltinglass.

Johnstown Castle Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry Headquarters, Co. Wexford

330kW Danish Dantrim woodchip boiler commissioned in January 2007. This was a showcase project to encourage implementation of similar scale projects among high energy requirement customers.

Knockenhoy Office Block District Heat, Wexford Town

A central plant room serving two office blocks with a 290kW German Nolting biomass boiler fuelled on wood pellets. System was commissioned September 2008 with capability to heat future development in neighbouring areas. Installed by DKS mechanical contractors, Wexford.

The Bailey, Enniscorthy

A busy restaurant, public house and live music venue in Enniscorthy. The building originally a malt store had fallen into disrepair and was extensively refurbished. Biomass was used for heating and Ambient Energy was retained to design and install a suitable system. Installed by DKS mechanical contractors, Wexford.

Westport Woods Hotel

We were commissioned to supply a 220kW Dantrim wood pellet / woodchip boiler to take on the heat load of the hotel's Leisure Centre. Installed by Dermot Joyce mechanical contractors. Great Northern Hotel, Bundoran

Great Northern Hotel, Bundoran

Existing oil and LPG inefficient system replaced with 90% plus efficient Dantrim 330kW boiler operating on wood pellet. This woodchip heating system is used to generate heating and hot water for hotel, leisure centre and new development area. Return on investment 2.5 years. Installed by Vincent Loughlin mechanical contractors, Ballyshannon.
