The Tyndall Institute underwent refurbishment during 2006 - 2007. As part of this work 23m2 of evacuated tube solar collectors were installed to help provide domestic hot water for the refurbished building. Installed by HA O'Neill mechanical contractors.

45m2 Kloben evacuated tube system combined with a 3,000 litre tank in tank cylinder contributes to the heating of 650m2 of under floor heating, a 60m2 swimming pool and domestic hot water.


Great Northern Hotel, Bundoran

Great Northern Hotel, Bundoran

75m2 flat plate solar system commissioned in 2010. The solar system services the DHW requirement for the hotel and leisure centre and is connected directly into a pre-heat 2,000 litre single coil stainless steel calorifier. Old inefficient calorifiers removed and replaced with 2,000 litre single coil and 2,000 litre dual coil stainless steel calorifiers. Hotel trade peaks during summer period when efficient LPG system was used for DHW, but LPG is very expensive. Hence, a very good return on investment. 33m2 Kloben evacuated tube system for DHW. DHW is pre-heated before entering an 800 litre stainless steel calorifier heated by natural gas. Temperature of water is heated if necessary by gas to greater than 65°C to prevent risk of Legionella. Installed by Horgan Mechanical, Cork.

22m2 Kloben evacuated tube system combined with a 1,500 litre tank in tank cylinder. The solar system is used to heat the swimming pool and DHW for the showers. A small area of under floor heating is also serviced by the solar system. System is backed up by oil boilers with the possibility to add a biomass boiler at a future date. The system was commissioned in December 2008. Installed by Mangrove Mechanical Services (Steven Hogan), Dublin.

The solar system comprising of 33m2 of Kloben evacuated tube connected to a 1,500 litre stainless steel single coil pre-heat cylinder was retrofitted into the existing DHW system served by 2 no. 800 litre calorifiers. The solar system is used to pre-heat the domestic hot water for bathing of the patients and the kitchen requirements. LPG was displaced. Installed by DKS mechanical contractors, Wexford.

This period house is one of the "Hidden Ireland" estates. In 2010 three buildings on the estate were retrofitted with evacuated tube solar panels including the leisure centre. Total panel area is 32m2. Installed by Joe Whelan Plumbing, Wexford.

330kW Danish Dantrim woodchip boiler commissioned in January 2007. This was a showcase project to encourage implementation of similar scale projects among high energy requirement customers.

A busy restaurant, public house and live music venue in Enniscorthy. The building originally a malt store had fallen into disrepair and was extensively refurbished. Biomass was used for heating and Ambient Energy was retained to design and install a suitable system. Installed by DKS mechanical contractors, Wexford.
